Getting into the city

Brussels Airport Express

Train

Includes the Brussels Airport rail supplement; also stops at Brussels-North and Brussels-South (Midi).

Follow 'Train' signs from the arrivals hall down to the station beneath the terminal. Buy tickets at SNCB machines or the SNCB app before boarding.

STIB/MIVB Airport Line (Bus 12 / Night bus N12)

Cheaper and simpler than the train if your destination is near the EU Quarter.

Bus stop is outside the arrivals hall. Tap a contactless bank card or MOBIB card directly, or buy a ticket from the driver/machine.

Official airport taxis

Only use taxis from the official rank with visible meters; avoid unmarked touts inside the terminal.

Follow 'Taxi' signs to the official rank outside arrivals.

Immigration Tips

  • Non-EU passport holders use the 'All Passports' lanes; e-gates are for EU/EEA/Swiss passports only.
  • Have your passport, visa, return ticket and proof of accommodation ready in case of questions.
  • Automated passport control kiosks are being rolled out for some visa categories — check current signage on arrival.

Customs Rules

  • Non-EU travellers can bring in duty-free goods up to certain value/quantity limits (check current allowances on the Belgian customs website before travel).
  • Declare cash amounts of €10,000 or more when entering or leaving the EU.
  • Certain food items (meat, dairy) from outside the EU are restricted or prohibited.

SIM Card Kiosks

  • Proximus, Orange and Base/Telenet kiosks are located in the arrivals hall for prepaid tourist SIM cards.
  • A passport is required to register a Belgian SIM card.
